When Warm Low Living was formed in 2025, we had a clear purpose from day one. We wanted to support households across Yorkshire with practical improvements that make homes warmer, healthier and more efficient. Although we are a new business within the EARNZ group, we have drawn on the experience and capability of teams who have delivered retrofit and energy services for many years. This foundation has allowed us to hit the ground running and contribute to work that has real impact for residents and communities.

Our journey began with the significant contract in Bradford, awarded through Equans on behalf of Bradford City Council. The programme focuses on insulation, ventilation upgrades and renewable energy solutions for privately owned homes. These improvements are not abstract concepts. They make a meaningful difference to daily life for the people who live in those properties. Better insulation reduces heat loss and helps keep homes comfortable. Improved ventilation supports healthier indoor environments. Renewable technologies provide long term reductions in energy costs. Together, these measures create a step change in the quality and performance of older homes.

From a delivery perspective, the contract has given us a strong foundation to build from. Setting up a new business always brings challenges, but we have approached our work with a practical mindset and a commitment to doing the basics well. Establishing a reliable supply chain, recruiting a capable team and embedding consistent processes have all been priorities. These steps ensure that we can deliver safe, compliant and efficient work across each property we support. The early progress has been encouraging and has shown the value of a focused regional team.

A strength of Warm Low Living is the blend of skills and experience we bring together. Our supervisors, coordinators and installers have worked on a range of retrofit and energy projects across the North, and they understand the importance of working respectfully in people’s homes. The work is not just technical. It involves planning, communication and sensitivity to the needs of each household. Our teams take pride in delivering a positive experience for residents and ensuring that each property we enter leaves in a better condition than when we arrived.

Being part of the EARNZ group has added further support and direction. The Group’s strategy is built on strong regional capability, and Warm Low Living plays an important role in providing that capability in Yorkshire. We benefit from the experience of sister companies across the Group and we contribute to a wider mission to support the UK’s journey to net zero. The relationship with A&D Carbon Solutions has been particularly important, as we work together on the Bradford contract. Their design expertise and established operational processes complement our own strengths, creating a joined up approach that supports consistent, high quality delivery.

The Bradford work also gives us a line of sight to future opportunity. As communities continue to recognise the value of energy improvements, demand for practical upgrades is likely to grow. Our approach is shaped by realism. We understand that each programme requires careful planning, clear communication and a steady pace of delivery. We are not in a rush to expand for the sake of expansion. Instead, we want to build a strong reputation based on reliability, technical competence and a genuine commitment to improving homes. If we can demonstrate these qualities consistently, then growth will follow in a natural and sustainable way.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the work is seeing the impact it makes for residents. Many of the homes we visit have struggled with heat loss, damp or high energy bills for years. Practical improvements such as insulation, ventilation upgrades and renewable technologies can make a dramatic difference. It is satisfying to hear from households that their homes feel warmer or that their energy usage has reduced. These outcomes are the reason our teams do what they do, and they reinforce the purpose behind the business.

As we move into 2026, my focus is on strengthening the foundations we have built. We will continue to invest in our people, refine our processes and maintain the high standards expected across the EARNZ group. We aim to support more households, deepen our partnerships and deliver work that stands up to scrutiny. The opportunity in Yorkshire is significant and we intend to play a positive role in improving homes across the region.

Warm Low Living may be a young business, but we have already shown that a focused, practical approach can deliver meaningful results. I am proud of the progress we have made so far and grateful for the hard work of every person in the team. Our goal is simple. We want to help households cut costs, cut carbon and keep cosy, and we will continue to deliver work that supports that mission throughout the year ahead.
